When the garden of Eden was first built at the very beginning and at that time there was no time or no calendars for matter. So its very, very difficult to tell when the garden of Eden was created.

Additional Answer:

Scripture only states that God put the man in a garden to the East (Genesis 2:8). However, a famous Archbishop James Ussher, from Armagh, Ireland, writing in the 17th Century had calculated the beginning of man from the genealogies given in Genesis. He calculated that Adam was created in 4004 BC. Therefore, the Garden of Eden was created sometime relatively soon after this.

James Ussher, Archbishop of Armagh used Old Testament genealogies to calculate that the world was created in 4004 BCE on the evening of 22nd October. This was when the second creation story in Genesis says that God planted the Garden of Eden.

From a historical perspective, the world is immensely older than this, and there never was a Garden of Eden. Leon R. Kass (The Beginning of Wisdom: Reading Genesis) believes this should be read symbolically. He says, "We can learn most from the story by regarding it as a mythical yet realistic portrait or permanent truths about our humanity, rather than as a historical yet idealized portrait of a blissful existence we once enjoyed but lost."

A:If there ever was a Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve must have lived there around six thousand years ago: The Bible tells us so. On the other hand, Leon R. Kass (The Beginning of Wisdom: Reading Genesis) says that the Garden of Eden is a purely mythic place, so there was no Adam or Eve and no time when they lived in the Garden.

In Judaism what is the outcome for believers?

Judaism teaches that the righteous of all faiths will reach 'gan eden', or 'garden of eden'. Some souls first go to a type of purgatory, for 'purification', but this lasts for only a maximum of one year. There is no 'hell' in Judaism. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The story takes place a little earlier than that. I saw the movie, and knowing that the British stopped wearing red uniforms in 1900, guessed it to be early in the 20th Century.
