"The" big snow in Georgia in 1993 began on Friday evening of March 12th. It snowed all night and into the late-morning of the following day. Atlanta had 9-10 inches and areas of north of Atlanta had much more. Some areas lost power for as long as a week.

The last measurable snowfall that took place in Atlanta on Christmas Day was in 1882, when a 1/4 inch of snow fell. There was a trace of snow in 1993, but it was just a dusting.
