Althouh many HDTV's are currently being sold with a natve resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It could be several years before broadcasters deliver 1080p signals.

Yes the PS3 supports 1080P when it is connected to a 1080P HDTV with the correct connection cables. The blu-ray disc plays movies at 1080P when played on the PS3 to my HDTV. The PS3 also upscales DVDs to near HD quality with amazing results. In order to fully support 1080p you do need to have a 1080p capable HDTV connected to the PS3 with HDMI or component cables.
One can buy a 1080p television at the store Target, for example. One should keep in mind that a 1080p television does not improve ones viewing experience unless one has access to video content shown in 1080p.
