By default, any question you ask will be added to your Watchlist. Any changes to questions on this list will be displayed on your "My watchlist" page. You can view this page by looking at the blue bar on the left of your screen. There is a link to it near the bottom under "My pages."
You can also use the "My settings" link to have Answers.com send you an email whenever a question on your watchlist is updated. Click on "My settings," enter your email address and choose "All updates."
The email you receive will be titled "Updated answer" and contains a link to your question and the answer on it.
And if you're not a registered user?
You'll have to check on your question periodically. You can either bookmark it, or just re-ask it in the search box at the top of the page.
But, it's much easier and less time-consuming to become a registered user. :)

∙ 14y agoIt depends entirely on the question you asked. Depending on the subject material, it may be answered right away, be answered in a few days, weeks, years, or never answered at all. However, there are things you can do to increase your chances that someone will answer your question. Here are a few tips:
- Correct categorization - often times experts in a topic will answer questions in one particular category. If only an expert on the topic is able to answer your question, then your question won't be answered if it's in the wrong place. Make sure the question is in the appropriate categories.
- Correct spelling/grammar - if no one can read your question and/or are turned off by improper grammar, then the question has a low likelihood of being answered.
- Featuring question - supervisors on WikiAnswers have the ability to feature unanswered questions on the main page. If you contact a supervisor (see listing in the link below) and request that a question be featured, they may agree and give the question more exposure.
- Familiarize yourself with the site - there are millions of questions on WikiAnswers; it's possible that your question already exists and has been answered in a different form. Try searching the site using alternate wordings and you may come across an already established question.

Why do you have to join to know when your question is answered?
If you are not signed in, it is impossible to alert you as to when your question has been answered - multiple people can contribute from your IP Address.
If WikiAnswers doesn't know the answer why do you have the question posted?
Because you can't answer a question that has never been asked. Ideally, there there should only be two kinds of questions on WikiAnswers - those that have been answered, and those that will be answered. When a contributor comes across a question that hasn't been answered, and they know (or think they know) the answer, they will put it in. That is how the collection of questions and answers grows.

Why does WikiAnswers not alert you when your question has been answered?
WikiAnswers does alert you when a question you asked has been answered. At the home page and on question pages, the bell used for notifications at the top-right of the page will have a red notification box to let you know about questions you've asked that have been answered.
