How can you drill a hole in a china plate?

Very slowly with a Carbide drill bit or Diamond core bit, both will work, but the diamond core bit works much better, make sure the bit has a constant flow of coolant or be submerged in the coolant. (go very slowly, do not apply much pressure, let the bit do the cutting) The best way is to use a drill press but a hand drill will work.

How do you install handrails in tile?

Hold your ADA handrail where you want it. Pencil mark your hole pattern. They make drill bits to drill tile. I find the massonary style bit to work best. Dip the bit in water every once in a while to keep it cool. Drill a 1/4 " hole at each mark, tap in a blue "moly" in your FOUR locations. (use the 4 hole pattern) and screw your rail to the wall. ADA height is 34" to the center of the pipe. GL

I am attaching wood beams for a porch and cannot find a drill bit to work How do you drill into cement?

To drill into cement you require a masonary bit for your drill. Masonary bits can be bought at any local hardware store or such like. Drill into cement using masonary bit (protects your drill from damage) then push a wall plug into the hole. to secure position and any attachment you wish to add ie woodern beams. I learnt the hard way about following this proceedure being a female that had never changed a plug. It's also helpful to have a hammer drill. They make a lot of noise, they drill into concrete much faster than a normal drill.ANS 2 - You will save yourself a lot of time and hard work by renting a good hammer drill like a small Hilti or a medium sized Bosch. You can also find many ways of attaching screws into concrete at the Hilti store. 'HIT' screws in particular , save a lot of time. They combine the screw with a polypropylene shield. You hammer drill the hole and just pound one in -simple.

What is the best way to hang a heavy picture on a wall with no stud behind it?

If the wall is made of drywall/sheetrock/gypsum wallboard, use one or more screw anchors. This is a plastic cone that comes with a screw. You drill a hole, push in the plastic cone, and use a screw driver to thread the screw into the anchor. Typically the instructions are on the package of screw anchors. Larger anchors will hold more weight, but the size of screw anchor you can use is limited by the thickness of the drywall, so the thickness of the drywall limits the weight it will support. It might be possible to use multiple anchors, but that might require some calculation and planning. If the wall is not drywall but plaster and lathe, you can use a lag bolt. This is a long threaded rod with a spring-loaded folding wing-like thing that threads on the end. To use it you drill a hole large enough to accommodate the folded wing. Push it through the hole, and the wings expand and grip the inside of the wall. Turn the screw to pull it up tight. For a brick or stone wall, there are special masonry drill bits to drill a hole, and anchors of plastic or metal that go in the hole. These expand to grip the wall when a matching screw is driven in. If the wall is not too thick, you could use a lag bolt like above. For a wood wall, simple wood screws should work. For smooth tile or glass, consider any epoxy adhesive.
