The mini laptop does provide ports for connecting an external drive, while the tablet does not.
I do and I can't figure out what the cause is. I thought it was interfeference from other devices and unplugged everything except the monitor, keyboard and base unit... still no luck!!
In Motion tablets and HP tablets there is a detachable keyboard. the keyboard usually will have two prongs on either side at the top of the keyboard that stabilize it and hold it secure. there is also a connector in the center that transfers the data from the keyboard to the tablet.

The benifit is that you will be able to have a regular laptop, aswell as something very similar to the Ipad because the screen can be turned a full 180 and be folded ontop of the keyboard. It is touch screen when in this mode and is primarily used for art and graphic design.
