When you mash the button on your keys for your trunk it sounds as if it is unlocking but its not opening?

We'd need the make and model of car to know specifically which device it uses for the trunk, but, chances are, you have an actuator on the fritz or the latch assembly has become seized. How to diagnose and repair it... well, that's why we'd need the make and model of your car.

It is inside the glove box. Open the glove box and on the left-top side there is a black button that opens the trunk. All you have to do is push the button. I am not sure but in white markings it might say trunk release or has a small diagram of a trunk open or opening.

There is not a fuse that you can pull. If you are asking because you only have a valet key and your alarm is active (goes off for ~30 seconds every time you start the car), try opening the trunk, or trunk then driver door then unlocking all doors, then start the car again. The trunk lock has a switch that disables the alarm when it is opened with the key.
