Best Answer

In the military, Europe, and South America.

Many, many places. Law Enforcement. Court systems. Hospitals run on the 24 clock system. Labs. Schools. Just to name a few. Any place where you have to document, show proof, punch a time clock.

You can set your cell phone to run on that as well. Check your tools and do it.
Once you start using (referred to previous years as military time) it becomes a no brainer, like using metric measures.

Why doesn't a clock have 24 hours?

Some clocks actually do have 24 hours on them, but a 24-hour clock is used by the military, some paramilitary organizations, and in other applications (like universal standard time). Most people just use a 12-hour clock. Note that most digital watches and clocks have a selectable 12- or 24-hour time.

Why is there 12 numbers on the clock?

The planet Earth is 24,000 miles around (circumference) and spins at 1,000 miles per hour, so a day is 24 hours long (24,000 miles divided by 1,000miles/hour = 24 hours). Since roughly half of that time is daytime, we have our clocks with 12 hour faces. There are plenty of clocks with 24 hour faces, but most still have twelve, correctly assuming that people will be smart enough to tell daytime from nightime. Navy and submarine clocks have two numbers rings on one face - the outer ring of numbers (1-12) is for AM, and the inner ring (13-24) is for PM.
