Answer check under the hood on the radiator brackets or on the intake box
What type of tool is required to release the serpentine belt tensioner on a 2000 jeep 4 L wrangler sport?
A 15 mm socket. serpentine belt removal A Wrench!! takes awhile and it is cramped but that is the way to do it!
Below and toward the center of the engine from the power steering pump is an idler pulley. Loosen the 15 mm bolt in that pully, but do not remove it. Then, just to the rig…ht and below (as viewed from in front of the engine) the water temperature sensor is another 15mm bolt. This is the tensioner bolt. Loosen it all the way, the new belt will not have streched yet and will not fit over the pulley if you don't. Reverse the proceedure to install, if you forget to tighten the pulley when you are done you will be doing it again real soon. Find the idler pulley tensioner and remove tension from the belt. It will then come right off.
try checking right under the hood somewhere. alot of them have them on a sticker on top of the radiator and or fan housing.
Answer Isn't it on the fan shroud?
There is a tensioner under the power steering pump. Lossen the pulley with a 15MM socket .. Do not remove it ... On top of the bracket to the left of the PS pump there is an a…djustment screw again 15MM lossen it as well and the tensioner pulley will provide slack in the belt....once there is enough slack in the belt remove it make notes on how the belt is routed on the Alt,AC etc.... Replace with a new belt and tighten the adjustment screw until proper tension is on the belt then tighten the tensioner pulley below the PS pump.. This is for a 98 Wrangler TJ...
there should be a model on the frame somewhere under the hood. You use whats called a tensioner to loosen the belts tightness on the wheels. It will have a bolt head on the fa…ce of it. you simply get a wrench that fits the head and push down and you should see it spin out of line, thus making more room for the belt after you find this it should be pretty easy to follow the diagram to get the belt on the rest of the way correctly
VR6 drive belt pathway
This applies to the L6 4.0L 2000 Jeep Wrangler. In the middle of the belt tensioner located below the alternator there is a 1/2 inch square hole. Insert the square end of a …1/2 inch breaker bar or socket wrench into the hole and turn the tensioner clockwise as far as it will go. The belt will easily slip of the idler below the tensioner. Not that the hole is between the bearings in the center of the tensioner arm. This is not documented in the Jeep service manual.
Copy and paste the link below, you should have a diagram sticker showing belt routing on your radiador fan cowling. http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:…en-gb:IE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7SKPB_en&q=jeep+cherokee+serpentine+belt+diagram&revid=896324198&resnum=0&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=RfKSS5zPE4f80wSDyenwDA&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CBMQsAQwAA
You can obtain a serpentine belt diagram have most Chrysler/Jeep dealerships. The serpentine belt diagram can also be found at most auto-parts stores.

There should be a diagram under the hood near the front.
Loosen the pulley below the power steering pump. Then locate the bolt to the left aiming at the pulley. It goes through the nut on the backside of the pulley. This is how it m…oves the pulley along the slot tightening / loosening the belt tension. Once you get it set tighten the pulley bolt back down to lock it in place.
This answer is not for a 2002 Jeep Wrangler.
