The simple way is to remove the R12 and install R134A. by a kit with that will have a hose, R134A with oil. The new oil may plug your leaks.

or

go to Mexico and cross the border and buy R12 in 12 oz cans

The border guards may take your R12 cans when you come into USA.

or

Drive your car into Mexico and have them fill your system with R12.

What type of freon does a Toyota Camry use?

It depends on the year of the car. From 1994 on, R134a refrigerant is used. Prior to that, they used R12 refrigerant (Freon). R134a is technically not "Freon". Be alert, however, as many older cars (like my 1986 Camry) have been retro-fitted with R134a systems, and can no longer accept Freon, as the two refrigerants are not compatible.

How to install freon in 1994 Oldsmobile achieva?

YOU don't! If your system is R12 (freon)it should ONLY be serviced by a professional. The way to determine is if you have quick-couple service fittings, it is 134A (not freon) equipped, if it has threaded service fittings, it is R12 (freon) equipped. When you take the vehicle to a professional, he will convert your R12 system (if it is so equipped) to 134A. R12 (freon) has not been manufactured since 1995 by law (Montreal Accord) and it is VERY hard to find. A license is required to purchase R12 and it may not be legal to sell in your state. Mark---Raleigh, NC Actually Freon is a registered trade name or trademark for E. I. DuPont. It is not strictly R-12. R-134a is commonly called Freon.

Can you mix R134 freon with R12 freon?

What type of freon does a Chrysler New Yorker 6 cy 3.3L engine take?

AnswerWhat year? There are two types for cars R12 for cars up to 1993 It no longer made and if anyone has any they can charge you $100 to $150 per pound The other is R134a for cars after 1993 An older car MUST be retrofitted to R134a for $100 to $500 depending on what needs to be replacedfreonthere is only one type of freon. It's freon it will work in any vehicleTotally incorrect! There are several different kinds of "FREON" freon is actually a trade name of Dupont for R22... Not an overall refrigerant. Anyone who has the certification to work on refrigeration equipment of any size will tell you it needs to be replaced with R134a. R12 is a refrigerant that destroys the ozone and has been banned by the EPA. FYI if anyone is caught putting R12 in for you they and you can be stuck with pretty hefty fines as well.

How do you know if r12 freon is in vehicle?

If if it a 1995 or older then it came with R12 installed. 1996 can be R12 or R134. 1997 up, it has R134/R134a. If you suspect it had R12 look for a label somewhere on the A/C unit signifying it has been converted. If you find it has R12 and is leaking and needs repairing, after the leak is repaired, convert it to R134a. R12 is far too expensive to use.

What year did they change from R12 freon to R134 freon?

1993-95 for most.
