//The group ABBA broke up in 1983. They consider one of their most successful concerts was in Australia (two week tour) possibly in 1976 or 1977. Not only were all cities sold out, but more fans were allowed in, filling every stop past capacity.//

After smaller regional tours earlier in their career, ABBA did a major tour of Europe and Australia in 1977, toured the US, Canada and Europe in 1979, and Japan in 1980.

They said they would never never tour again because they didn't really enjoy it, Frida comments in the 2004 interview "ABBA: Super Troupers".

"It wasn't really enjoyable, we would go to these wonderful places, Austrailia, America, London and couldn't go out because everyone knew us... we could only really come 'alive' on stage." A big strain was also the fact that Agnetha absolutely hated flying.

Their film ABBA: The Movie originally started out as a documentary of their time in Australia in 1977, but grew into the film. The 1979 tour spawned a TV concert special which aired in Sweden, the UK and the US. It's available on DVD as Abba in Concert. Abba: The Movie is also on DVD as is Abba in Japan, with footage from their 1980 tour.

The answer to the question actually depends on if you mean worldwide or in the US.

In the US, the answer is "Dancing Queen." It sold an estimated 1.1 million on its initial release, and has sold over 500k in downloads.

Worldwide it is debatable. It is either "Fernando" of "Dancing Queen." It is very difficult to get accurate numbers for each song, not only due to the time in which they were released, but also due to the large number of countries they charted in successfully that there is little to no sales data for.

1973 (as Bjorn & Benny, Agnetha & Anni-Frid): Swedish folkparks

1974/75: Scandinavia, Germany and Austria

1977: Europe and Australia

1979: Europe and North America

1980: Japan (same set as above)

Abba performed almost 100 major concerts during their career:

November 1974 - January 1975: Europe (18 concerts in Denmark, Germany, Austria, Scandinavia)

January - March 1977: 28 concerts in Australia, UK and Europe (Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Norway, Scandinavia)

September - November 1979: 41 concerts in the US, Canada, UK, Western Europe

March 1980: 11 concerts in Japan

However, from 1970 through 1973 they performed in many Scandinavian clubs and folkparks and throughout their career performed before live audiences on numerous TV stages, the last on British TV in Decemeber 1982.

The principals of the band, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, Ani-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Faltskog, first performed together in public in Cyprus in April of 1970 when they staged an impromptu concert for UN soldiers stationed there. Their first scheduled concert, the start of a four month tour of Swedish clubs, was on November 1, 1970, at the Trägår'n cabaret in Göteborg. They didn't adopt the name "ABBA" until the summer of 1973.

Probably Dancing Queen. That song hit a note with everybody. If you listen to it today it doesn't sound dated or out of style, it's still a great song and is guarenteed to get your toes tapping.
