He was born and raised in England, then lived in the US for a number of years as commander of the British troops, then lived in India as Governor-General, then in Ireland as Lord Lieutenant and commander-in-chief. Finally he was re-appointed as Governor-General of India and went to live there. He died a little later, in India.
