Asians most recently descended from Caucasians approx. 30,000 years ago, although exact date is uncertain, who in turn descended from Africa approx. 200,000 years ago according to Wikipedia. However these people who left Africa also mixed with European Neanderthals and an ice age both likely contributed to their vastly different appearance. Asians today also, like Caucasians have Neanderthal DNA as a result, and have many Caucasian traits such as straight hair, often fair-olive skin and although more rare various hair & eye colors as a result of their genetic lineage. Specifically Koreans, Japanese & Chinese are the closest of Asian ethnic groups related to Caucasians. However Indians also are considered Caucasian as well. The decision to consider Asians as a different race than Caucasians was one largely based on not knowing what we know now of their genetic leneige.

Probably areas around China, Mongola, and Siberia, more recently.

but even before that (prehuman-human) Africa, since everyone has a common ancesotor who aparently lived over 40,000 years ago. And there is a ethnic group in South Africa that have the asian fold and look remarkably like asians, but tan and black looking.

EVERYONE on the planet has a common materinal ancestor, who lived in africa.
