Ied-il-adha is celebrated to mark the sacrifice that hazrat Ibrahim (Peace be upon him) was about to give. He saw a dream in which Allah asked him present him his most beloved thing. He sacrificed an animal next day. Next night he again saw the same dream. He again slaughtered an animal. When on third night he again saw the dream, he contemplated what his best thing could be and he thought of his son, Hazrat Isarail.

He told him that he was taking him to a feasting, while he has planned to sacrifice him. On their way Satan told Hazrat Isarail what his father has in his mind. The son humiliated and cursed Satan and said that It was a matter of pride for him.

When they reached the destination, Hazrat Isarail asked his father to blindfold himself. When Hazrat Ibrahim kept the knife on Hazrat Isarail, the knife was inverted and Allah sent Dumbah (an animal) to be slaughtered.

There are two Eids. Eid-al-Fitr, the Feast of Breaking the Fast, follows the end of Ramadan. Eid-al-Adha, the Feast of the Sacrifice, takes place during the Hajj, and celebrates God's sparing of the life of Prophet Abraham's son, Abel, God bless them both and grant them peace.
