Genesis 1:1-47 (New International Version)

Genesis 1

The Beginning1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2 Now the earth was [Answers.com] formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning-the first day.

6 And God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water." 7 So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the expanse "sky." And there was evening, and there was morning-the second day.

9 And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so. 10God called the dry ground "land," and the gathered waters he called "seas." And God saw that it was good.

11 Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so. 12The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening, and there was morning-the third day.

14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. 16 God made two great lights-the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning-the fourth day.

20 And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth." 23 And there was evening, and there was morning-the fifth day.

24 And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [Answers.com] and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

27 So God created man in his own image,

in the image of God he created him;

male and female he created them.

28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground-everything that has the breath of life in it-I give every green plant for food." And it was so.

31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning-the sixth day.

I hope this helped! :) My e-mail is ciffy97@gmail.com. Do you have a bible?

This question is impossible to answer. The sceptic (evolutionist) will never be able to convince the believer (creationist) and the believer will never be able to convince the sceptic. I suggest that this question be removed as it will likely only result in long diatribes and flame wars.

According to the "overview" of the creation account in Genesis 1... man came into existence "suddenly and deliberately" by God, fashioned in ONE 24-HOUR DAY. Day SIX of the creation week. First, man wasn't there... and then, by the end of the sixth day -- he was:

"...the evening and the morning were the fifth day. And God said, 'Let the earth bring forth the living creature AFTER HIS KIND, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth AFTER HIS KIND [like lions, giraffes, and apes - emphasis, mine], and cattle AFTER THEIR KIND, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth AFTER HIS KIND [like snakes, bugs and worms]: and God saw that IT WAS GOOD. And God said, 'LET US MAKE MAN in OUR IMAGE [after the GOD KIND], after OUR LIKENESS... And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, IT WAS VERY GOOD. And the evening and the morning WERE THE SIXTH DAY." (Gen.1:23-31 KJV)

Genesis chapter 1 doesn't say that God "spoke" man into existence... but only in a manner of overview and generalization of the entire seven-day process, it tells us WHAT God did... not HOW. Only that it was begun and completed in one day on Day Six.

Chapter 2 is not a "second creation account." It merely adds a few details regarding those first six days. Chapter 2 begins with the completion of chapter 1, with the creation of the SEVENTH DAY; the Holy, Sanctified Sabbath Day: created by RESTING... not WORKING. And then flashes back to a few details of the first six creation days. As Matthew Henry calls it: "PARTICULARSabout the creation" in his synopsis of Genesis 2.

Chapter 2 says: "...And the LORD God FORMED MAN OF THE DUST OF THE GROUND..." (verse 7).

This is very clear imagery of a "hands-on" project that defies the imagination of the finite human mind, when one considers all of the functioning internal organs; the brain, liver, pancreas, lungs, kidneys, veins, arteries, capillaries, the amazing self-contained and self-regulating pressurized circulatory system, etc -- the origin, design and function of which still puzzles science, today, as to how it all might have come about by one mindless accidental cosmic development after another over billions and billions of years; resulting in the perfect creation that the human body is.

How long it took God [and the WORD who was in the beginning with God - see John 1:1-2] to come up with this design and the inclusion of all of its "particulars" that went into its final manifestation, isn't mentioned. Chapter 2 only tells us a brief detail regarding the completion of their "special" project crafted after their own Divine image in that one day; the sixth day.

"...and BREATHED INTO HIS NOSTRILS the breath of life; and man BECAME A LIVING SOUL." (verse 7).

Can anyone else see a form of "artificial resuscitation" happening here in this "original inflation of the creature's lungs with air" performed by his Creator? Which in turn started his brand new heart pumping; thus giving His creation a "jump-start?"

But that's the biblical account on HOW man came into existence. He was fashioned together in the course of A PORTION OF ONE DAY -- on THE SIXTH DAY of creation.

In the first creation story in Genesis, at verse 1:27, God simply spoke man (both male and female) into existence as the very last act of creation.

In the second creation story in Genesis, at verse 2:7, God formed a man out of the dirt, as the very first act of creation. He created a woman out of the man's rib as the very last act of creation. In this story, God's powers are more limited, and we see that God can not make living things out of nothing.

God spoke man into being from the dust of the earth. Then he used one rib from Adam (the first man) to create Eve (the first woman). Eve was called woman because she came from man.
