The 106th Infantry Division was never in the US 7th Army. From north to south in Europe there was the 21st Army Group of Montgomery, the British and Canadians, then the 12th Army Group of Omar Bradley, which was the 9th, 1st, and 3rd US Armies, in that order north to south. South of 12th Army Group was the 6th Army Group of Jacob Devers, the 7th US Army the French 1st Army.
The 106th ID got to France in November and was assigned to 1st Army. The Division was one of those smashed in the initial onslaught of the Battle of the Bulge, but rallied and continued to fight.
After mid-March 1945 the 106th ID was in the newly activated 15th US Army, which did not have a place in the line, and was involved more in operating POW camps and keeping enclaves of Germans left to wither on the vine in French coastal cities contained.
See related link below for a brief history.
The 106th Infantry Division received its final training at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, before being shipped directly to the front lines. Supposedly into a "Safe" area to complete its training, it ended up being the location of Germany's final thrust, and became known as the "Battle of the Bulge". More than 8,000 casualties were suffered, with one entire regiment surrendering, in what would be come the largest surrender of US forces.
Following the destruction of the German forces, the 106th was re-organized and guarded thousands of German POWs, along with other battle involvement.

For WW2: Armored Infantry Divisions were equiped with half-tracks. Regular Infantry Divisions walked (or trucked). During the Vietnam War those Armored Infantry Divisions gave way to the new MECHANIZED INFANTRY DIVISIONS, equipped with M-113 APC/ACAV (Armored Personnel Carriers/Armored Cavalry Assault Vehicles). Only one US Army Mechanized Infantry Division was in Vietnam (and only it's 1st Brigade); the 5th Mechanized Infantry Division (Red Diamond Patch). Regular Infantry Divisions in Vietnam were called "Straight Legs", "Straight" meaning...straight foot soldiering.

Not in WW2. Before 1939, each US Army Infantry Division had 4 infantry regiments. This proved to be too large for use on the battlefield. So the size the division was reduced and one regiment was removed. So the 3rd Infantry Regiment could have been part of a Division before then. However, during WW2 the 3rd Infantry Regiment was not part of an infantry division. Source: http://www.custermen.com/ItalyWW2/ArmyOrg/OrgChart/Divisions.htm

You need to be more specific about whether you're referring to the 7th Infantry Division, or the 7th Infantry Regiment before this question can be answered.
That is a United States 95th Infantry Division insignia.
The 82nd Airborne Division was a paratrooper division and therefore it was smaller than the typical Infantry Division. A paratrooper division were authorized to have about 9,000 men in its organization whereas an Infantry Division had 15,000 men. An airborne division had 9 companies in each of the three regiments whereas the infantry division had 12 companies in each of its regiments.
