usually the brake light swith is up under the dash right above the brake pedal itself. I have an 09 cobalt and it has a u shaped tab that rides on the side of the brake pedal arm on a small stud that sticks out.

By repairing the problem. Low brake fluid, defective master cylinder, etc.
You can get a Chevy Cobalt starting at about $11,000. That will give you just the bare bones so the cost will go up from there.
The Cobalt is a closed system. That means you can not add trans fluid, it has to go to the dealer to get it done right. rev. this is not a closed system. you can add fluid on top of the trans there is a fill cap. best thing to do if your not sure is to drop the pan and change the filter and add 7 qts of fluid. Sounds to me like you have a brake fluid leak somewhere in the system. Check the level of brake fluid in the reservoir. If the reservoir is full you may have a bad master cylinder with a "blow-by" condition.
The brake fluid level will gradually go down as the brake pads , brake shoes wear
go to a mechanic immediately
