They sleep near their nearest food source usually. So you'll often find them by a leaf. But you usually wouldn't see one because they will usually blend in with the leaves and their surroundings. So keep a look out.

If you watch closely when they are up on the trees they will sleep near they closest food resources, like trees plants or leaves.

  • Caterpillars are way too busy to sleep. They are in a constant process of eating and growing and molting (shedding skins that are too small, so they can keep growing.) A caterpillar molts a total of five times, after which its skin is transformed into a chrysalis. After a short while, a moth or butterfly emerges from the chrysalis.
  • No... Right above me is wrong. I Have a small green caterpillar and it can sleep. March.20th.2012 was when my caterpillar first slept. It crawls under a leaf and stick it's legs under the leaf. So yes, they can sleep. Sometime they may poop. iGlowers
