Air Canada did fly to Moscow from 1966 to 1977 but dropped service in the fall of that year in favor of a codeshare agreement with Aeroflot which flew from Montreal twice a week. Air Canada's service was usually twice a week using DC-8L aircraft from Toronto-Montreal-Copenhagen-Moscow. They never operated a nonstop flight and because they could not get fifth freedom rights on the Copenhagen -Moscow portion of the flight,it was just a money losing service.
