Our forum has a nature section and I was just preparing to post on this curious little creature when a search for a decent pic lead me to this question.
The Leafy Sea Dragon is found only in the shallows off the southern coast line of Australia.
In shape, they resemble the Chinese Dragons depicted in the customary festivals of that land.
In colour, they have yellow/green body striping, and leaf-like body appendages that allows them to blend almost invisibly with their sea grass surroundings.
When they 'swim' their movements perfectly mimic the motion of drifting sea weed.
They grow as large as 17 inches in length.
They eat tiny mysid shrimp.
And the males carry the egg sacks of the unborn along the length of their tails.
