They should be in the exhaust system close to the engine ( either in the exhaust
manifold outlets or the
exhaust pipe ) before the exhaust enters the catalytic converters
Bank 1 is the passenger side of the engine and sensor 1 is the upstream sensor
Bank 2 is the driver side of the engine and sensor 1 is the upstream sensor on that side
Upstream is before the catylitic converter, downstrean is below the cat.
Counterclockwise.
please show me a diagram of the location of all 4 oxygen senors on a 1996 ford explore?
both. upstream is under the hood, and the downstream is by the catalytic converter.
I'm not a mechanic / technician but on a 1988 Ford Ranger there might be ( 1 ) oxygen sensor ( upstream sensor )
bank 2 is the drivers side of the engine on your Ford Expedition sensor 1 is in the exhaust upstream ( before the exhaust enters the catalytic converter )
Lack of upstream heated oxygen sensor switch - sensor indicates rich - bank no. 2
The oxygen sensors located before ( upstream ) of the catalytic converters are used to " sense " the amount of oxygen in the exhaust to adjust the air / fuel ratio for the engine
Bank # 1 is the passenger side of the engine in a Ford Expedition Sensor # 1 would be before the catalytic converter ( upstream sensor ) Sensor # 2 would be after the catalytic converter ( downstream sensor )
YES - www.motorcraft.com lists a DPFE sensor for all available engines on a 1996 Ford Ranger
Replace the upstream O2 sensor which is on the exhaust manifold
P1405 Ford - DPFE Sensor Circuit Upstream HoseProbably caused by Faulty DPFE sensor (EGR pressure sensor), or a plugged EGR tube
