It really depends on where you are in Canada and what time of year it is. The east part of the country tends to be cold in winter, yet the west coast varies quite a bit. In January 2010, in certain areas, it was warm enough to wear t- shirts outside.

One notable feature of Canada's climate is its continentality in which the interior has a great variation in temperature over the year. The interior of Canada, far away from the moderating influences of the oceans, heats up in the summer and cools down in the winter. This feature of a large range in temperature is called continentality. The coastal areas have smaller differences in high and low temperatures because of the moderating effects of the oceans. The moderation is especially great on the west coast where lush forests grow. The east coast is not as mild as the west coast, but its temperature range is not as large as the interior.
Canada is such a large country that it has many different climates. I would look into the different areas of canada to determine which region in Canada you are interested in.
