Yorkshire is a county in Northern England, and is the largest in Great Britain. Throughout Yorkshire, there are various "Sub Counties", such as the North Riding and The East Riding, and these are there for Governmental purposes.

West Yorkshire is a county in Northern England. It contains the major cities of Bradford and Leeds as well as towns such as Huddersfield Wakefield and Castleford. It is to the East of the Pennines and is surrounding by Lancashire, North Yorkshire, Hmnberside and South Yorkshire

The old county of Yorkshire is now split into West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and North Yorkshire. All of the major towns are now Unitary Authorities. Before Yorkshire was divided, the county town and capital was the City of York.
