Actin and myosin are contractile proteins found within muscle fiber. If you look at a muscle fiber under a microscope it is made up of several repeating units called sarcomeres that run along the length of the muscle fiber. Proteins actin and myosin are found in the sarcomeres in different locations.

Actin makes up cytoskeleton fibers called?

The actin that makes up cytoskeleton fibers are called microfilaments. They are the thinnest filaments of the cytoskeleton a structure found in the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells.Ê

What would enable you to identify the plus end of actin filaments?

add radiolabeled actin subunits to a mixture of actin filaments in which conditions are favorable for polymerization.

Do actin filaments have membranes?

No. They are polymers of actin that form 'filaments'. Membranes in eukaryotic cells are composed of a 'lipid bilayer'
