Best Answer

Photosynthesis takes place in the cells of green plants.

The process of photosynthesis is carried out in the chloroplasts. More specifically, the light reaction takes place in the thylakoid membrane, while the dark reaction (light independent) takes place in the stroma.

in the chloroplast of a plant cell, which are mainly in the mesophyll cells of leaves

the light reactions happen in the along the thylakoid membrane of the chloroplast, and the Calvin cycle occurs in the stroma, the fluid between the inner membrane and grana (plural of granum, a stack of thylakoids) of the chloroplasts.
