You don't. Unless it is a reuseable cotton filter. Otherwise, buy a new paper element filter and replace. On the 2.0TFSI the air filter is in the plastic engine cover. You have to disconnect the cover from the hoses and remove an electrical connector. Pry off on left side first. Turn it over and unscrew four screws. The air filter is under the panel the screws held on.
Under the glove box on the passenger side.
