On my 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan it is under the driver side dash neer the center console. No dash disassembly required to access. Three screws and a cannon plug very easy… to replace.
The Ranger and Ford Explorer use the same HVAC plenum box and any information on the Explorer is applicable to the Ranger. The actuator motor is located on top of the …heater box and you can see it if you fully open the glove box and look in the upper left hand corner on top of the box. Pictures and removal process are described on our Ebay listing or web site at www.heatertreater.net. The factory repair is very involved with removal of the dash, steering wheel and column, evacuating the AC system, draining radiator, and finally removal of the heater box to access a cheap plastic door. HeaterTreater is an inexpensive kit that replaces the blend door with steel components and is engineered to be installed through dremel cuts made into the heater box. The fix is 100% effective and much easier/cheaper than the dealer. cgallen
The actuator is located on top of the heater box and can be accessed by fully opening the glove box and looking in the upper left hand corner. Generally, the actuator …motor is not the problem, but a broken blend door. For information on how to diagnose and fix the problem, you can check at www.heatertreater.net. This is a very common problem and the fix is very expensive at the dealer. HeaterTreater is a cheap, easy alternative. cgallen
You need to remove the glove box and then you will see the actuator. The glove box has about 6 hexagon screws which are simple to remove. However reaching the actuator is anot…her story. Good Luck!
The actuators are under the dash. three of the four are on the drivers side just above the accelorator and are attached to your blower motor. the fourth is located under… the passenger dash to the right and is attached to the recirc blower.
behind the glove box...you can access it by removing the panel under the glove box or removing the interior part of the glove box
The blend door actuator on the late model Chevy Tahoe is located behind the dash in the glove box area. Broken blend doors and broken blend door actuators are a very common pr…oblem among Chevy Tahoe, Suburban, and Silverado models. Typically, to repair a broken blend door, a mechanic will disassemble the dash and replace the plenum box. It is an expensive and labor intensive repair. There are also some DIY solutions such as the heatertreater that provide hardware and instructions for performing the repair by removing the glove box rather than the entire dash. It is worth looking into if you think you have a broken blend door.
I have a 98 Jimmy slt and mine was located behind the glove box and to the upper left. It was really not that hard to remove. The glove box folds down easily. I had to… remove this round looking component and swing it toward the drivers side and then use a 7/32 socket to remove the two screws. Remove the power plug ,Wiggle the actuator upwards until free. There are a couple of small vacuum lines that have to be removed in the process also. I am a mother and grandmother .If I can do it so can you!
Where is the Blend Door Actuator Motor on a 1994 Chevrolet Suburban and how do I access and replace it?
The blend door actuator on the '94 Suburban is located just above and to the right of the accelerator pedal. There are 2 - 7mm screws that hold it in place and 1 wire harness …connection.

the blend door actuator is located under the sound insulator panel. Remove the sound insulator panel by removing for 7mm screws. Move the sound insulator panel out of the way.… Now look at the bottom of the heating/air conditioning unit at the bottom near the carpet where the transmission hump is in the floor board. You will see a little 3 inch by 3 inch black box with a 6 wire plug going to front of the box. Unplug the actuator and remove the 3 (7/32) screws. When putting in a new actuator DO NOT PLUG IT UP TO TEST IT. IT WILL THROW IT OF TIME. The only thing you need to test is the blend door. Turn the bottom of the door where the actuator connects to door and check for movement. put on new actuator and start fixing your next problem
There is no significant power at the three wire plug at the control knob, the three wires are directly wired to a potentiometer. In the five wire plug on the actuator there is… a ground and twelve volts. To test knob, use a multimeter to check for changes in resistance from the middle to the outsides, and for a constant resistance on the outsides. Use a voltmeter to check for 12 volts at the actuator plug, hooking to the two wires that are diff colors than the three that go to the control knob. If you have 0 volts with key in run position, you prolly have blown fuse. The knob resistance can be checked regardless of key position. If turning the knob varies the resistance, and you have twelve volts in run, then your actuator is probably bad. iF turning the knob yields no change in resistance, than the knob is slipping and not turning the shaft it sits on.
