As of August 2011, the tallest building in the US is the "Willis Tower" in Chicago, Illinois (formerly known as the Sears Tower). Soon, however, the tallest building (currently under construction) will be the "Freedom Tower" in New York, New York.

Prior to September 11, 2001, the tallest building in the US was a tie between the two free standing World Trade Centers in New York.
