Your knock sensor is on the front of the engine block just to the left of the radiator hose. Be careful not to tighten the sensor too tight when installing one. They crack easy. I believe that the sensor only needs to be torqued to 10-15 lbs.

Yes, I have it done on mine. The MK3 2.0 gearbox fails when it gets to high mileage. The Mk2 1.8 gearbox is bulletproof.
At idle, around 15psi. Or roughly 10psi for every 1,000rpm the engine is at (ie 2500rpm you should have at least 25psi)

The 8v was 115BHP.
depending what engine code you have...either on the catalytic converter , or on the exhaust manifold itself
96 gti 2l 8v=115bhp standard 96 gti 16v standard 150 bhp

the 16v is 150bhp and the 8v 115bhp.
