There are a few reasons why a 1994 Mazda Protege won't start, but does crank. A couple of reasons could be the air flow sensor or a problem in the fuel lines.

Why would 2000 Mazda protege shuts down in motion and does hard start when hot and engine cranks but will only start when allowed to cool-there are no DTCS from diagnosis and crank sensors changed?
I am having the same problem with my 1.6 L but i think i have isolated it to the MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR / AIR INTAKE SENSOR. Did you get yours fixed? What did you end up replacing?
