The windshield washer pump is attached to the bottom of the reservoir for windshield fluid. In fact, there are two pumps -- one for pushing fluid on to the windshield and one for pushing fluid on to the rear window. Unfortunately, the reservoir is not easy to access. It sits beneath the front passenger side fender. You have to take off the passenger side wheel, then remove the cover in the wheel well, to access the reservoir and pumps. What a pain! Toyota really made this one difficult repair. The placement wouldn't be so bad if the pumps lasted forever, but that is apparently not the case. I've noticed more than 10 different people asking the same question. (By comparison, Ford, Chevy and Pontiac small SUVs are much, much easier to repair.) If you're going to make this repair yourself, be careful! Make sure to: 1. Put jack stands under both sides of your front axle after you jack up the front end of your Rav4. These are available for about $25 a set at most good auto parts stores. 2. Do NOT rely just on your emergency jack to hold up the car. 3. You may want to check the cables on the pumps to see if they are secured. If not, just reattach the cables and see if the pumps / tiny motors work properly. The voltage is only about 12 volts. 4. Be careful not to damage any of the wiring near or connected to the pumps. I'm no mechanic, so please consult a trained professional if you don't what you're doing. Good luck!
