They are extreme swellings of the lymph nodes caused by an acute bacterial infection such as the Bubonic Plague (hence its name). They are most commonly found in the groin and under the armpits.

They appeared on the groin and armpit area, usually around the size of a egg or a small apple. They leaked alot of pus and blood at the same time, and were very painful, people with these had only a couple of days to live.

this was the most common of all the plagues because most people died from this one.
