That's not really an answer, matter of fact it's rude, people ask questions because they want a legitimate answer. #1 since it is not marked on the cap, it is wherever you have the bug (rotor) pointed to, as this is just an electronic pickup point, it can be any one of the towers, as long as the wire connected to it is attached to the #1 plug (drivers side front). So if you need to move the distrubutor around so it doesn't hit other components, don't worry about it. As long as #1 wire goes to the same tower the bug points to when the engine is at TDC, you have your timing roughed in. This is for an older V8, I think #1 changed spark plug positions when they went to surpentine belts

If it is the 2.2 ecotec engine, it is located on the spark plug cover withe ecotec logo on it. It is a little square with wires and heat fins on it.
