I'm sure someone can add more to this for a more complete answer, but the Roman culture had a lot to do with influencing the New Testament because of the era it took place in.

Actually it was the Jewish Culture who were the first to hear the words of Jesus and spread it (with the exception of Paul who had a vision of Jesus on the road to Damascus and was converted) Paul actually never physically saw Jesus.

Not until Constantine (whose Mother was a Christian) made Christianity the formal religion of the Roman Empire. He was going into battle and had a vision of the cross and heard the words with this conquer. Needless to say he won the battle and the Roman Empire was mandated to convert Christianity . But strangely Constantine didn't convert until on his death bed.

Before he died he called the Bishops to council. The main argument was if Jesus was really God or man. With the vote of one Bishop it was resolved that Jesus was both Divine and Man.

Then another council of Bishops was called because there were kinds of books floating around. These are what we now call the Lost Books of the Bible. They were more esoteric. So these were condemned. The remaining Books were compiled by the Bishops. Now not all of these Bishops were Roman. In fact they were mostly from Asia Minor. So all in all many cultures compiled what we now call the Bible.

God Bless

And keep the Faith
