Riding a bicycle is carbon neutral, which means it has no carbon footprint. It does not increase the amount of carbon dioxide in the air.

Many other human activities, particularly sports and exercise are carbon neutral. But whenever you turn on some electrical gadget or ride in a fossil fueled vehicle you start increasing the carbon dioxide in the air.

Solar generated power, wind power and geothermal power are examples of sources of electricity that do not add much carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. Using public transport adds less carbon dioxide to the atmosphere per passenger mile than private motor cars.

Burning wood adds carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, but the carbon in the wood originally came from the atmosphere, meaning that there is no net addition, so long as new wood is grown to replace what is consume. Permanently removing trees from the environment, as when we slash and burn rain forest, permanently increases atmospheric CO2.

How can human activities alter the atmosphere?

Human activities can alter the atmosphere because of greenhouse gasses and aerosols. The greenhouse gasses that are released due to human activities include methane, nitrous oxide, halocarbons, and carbon dioxide.

What human activities release sulphur dioxide ,carbon monoxide and oxide of nitrogen to the atmosphere?

Burning of fossil

What is happening to Earth's carbon dioxide?

The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is increasingly drastically, attributed primarily to human activities.

What human activities relase sulphur dioxide carbon monoxide and oxides of nitrogen to the atmosphere?

Burning of fossil fuels

How does the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere affect climate?

Yes. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas. If levels of it in the atmosphere are higher than normal, then they trap more heat. This is causing global warming, and the world warming is causing changes in climate.

What are two non human activities by which carbon can enter the atmosphere as CO2 during the carbon cycle?

Dead trees rotting in the forest.Carbon dioxide escaping from volcanoes.

What human activities have led to increasing levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere?

one of them is people drive cars another is globle warming

What human activities can cause greenhouse gases and what greenhouse gases do they cause?

Burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas, and deforestation, are the human activities. The first releases carbon dioxide, and the second means the trees are no longer able to absorb the carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

How is the balance mainted between the volume of carbon dioxide and oxygen in atmosphere?

The balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide is maintained in the atmosphere by the oxygen released by plant during photosynthesis and carbon dioxide released by human ,animal's etc in the atmosphere

What would happen to the temperature of the atmosphere if carbon dioxide increased due to human activity?

It will rise. The temperature of the atmosphere is rising already because carbon dioxide is increasing due to human activity.
