Probably the Salvation Army- established l865 in England. they have long been an indispensable part of the Christmas season, what with Charity cans and kettles, brass bands and uniformed salvationists on the scene! There are always special Christmas numbers of the War Cry- the SA magazine. Other charities in the Christmas decorations- not necessarily cards business would include the aptly named Holy Childhood which was active all year- in the Church schools, but like most charities Peaked in the Yule season. They are not currently active. Christmas seal-like stamps were produced and sold. designs were changed annually ( costs money) to perk interest among kids and others, the idea of adhering to a basic stamp design year after year was not proceeded with. they naturally went for Holy Family, Manger and other Religious Christmas subjects, avoiding clausism and trees, etc.

The first Charity Christmas card was produced by UNICEF for Christmas 1949. It was designed by a 7 year old Czech girl.
