Norway rejected membership to the European Union.
No. The present (western orientated) government wants EU membership in the future but the opposition parties (many of which are more Russian orientated) are against EU membership. The EU is just the European Union. Any countries of Europe can apply to receive EU membership if they qualify. They joined what was then called the EEC in 1973. It would be up to the British people to decide if they want to leave it. All EU countries would have some people in them that would not want to be in the EU, but it has been beneficial for most countries and so the majority of people and the governments in those countries want to stay as members. There are things even the supporters of EU membership may not like, but overall it is seen to have more advantages to be in the EU than not.
There are 27 EU countries.
