Many Heavy Metal bands wore platforms, in the 70s, and early 80s. Nowdays some bands still wear them as a gimmick. This was known as 'GLAM ROCK'. The band that springs to my mind is KISS. This was by no means the first band to do so. David Bowie was also a big wearer of platforms. ha ha boom boom
