If there was no insurance coverage through any company prior to the illness, or onset of symptoms, no coverage will be granted for that illness, and any charge related to it because it will be considered pre exsisting condition. If the transport is related to urgent reasons, and there was coverage prior, then any company that offers complete medical coverage, will pay. If you just want to ride in an ambulance cuz you don't feel llike driving, then no one will pay, and the ambulance shouldn't pick you up. But if a doctor says its medicaly necessary for escort and transport, then you may need preauth, but again, any good, real insurance company such as blue cross, aetna, cigna, etc will cover.
