Best Answer

A turbocharger would be more better because you can get more power efficiently than superchargers.

Answer

Yes turbos are more efficient, but a supercharger will give more low RPM torque which can help a lot for towing, especially at low speeds.

Is a turbocharger more powerful than a supercharger?

A turbocharger is not typically more powerful than a supercharger but is able to offer a boost at lower speeds. The turbocharger is powered by engine exhaust while the supercharger uses power from the drive belt.

What is meant by turbocharger and supercharger?

Using a compressor in the form a turbo or supercharger to force air into an engine to make more power.

What is a electric supercharger?

An electric supercharger is essentially an electric motor run off a car's alternator driving a high speed fan which attempts to force more air into a car's air intake. The idea is the same as a turbocharger or supercharger, the more air and fuel forced into the combustion chamber the more power that will be developed by the engine. The only difference between a turbocharger or supercharger and the electric supercharger is that the electric supercharger is limited by how much power the car's battery and alternator can supply whereas a turbocharger and supercharger is limited by the amount of power the engine can supply which is significantly greater in comparison.

What is more safe for a motor a supercharger or a turbocharger?

Neither is safer. they are two different ways of achieving the same thing i.e. compressing the air being fed into an engine. A supercharger uses engine power and is less efficient, but responds quicker. A turbocharger uses exhaust gas pressure, but there is a time lag penalty.

How much does a turbocharger add horsepower to a 4 cylinder?

"not alot ur better of getting a supercharger it will add more horse power with better pick up" This is not necessarily true, a supercharger will give you more power at low end, but die out at high end, where as a turbo will do the opposite. But with dyno tests, it's shown that on lesser cylinder cars, a turbo is the way to go. I have an 08 civic, and a supercharger would have given me 40-50 hp at the wheels, where a turbo would have given me 80.

What is better between supercharge and turbochage?

Better or worse is based on the needed application. However there is very few advantages of a turbo over a supercharger. The only advantage of a turbo is if you are racing the engine over distance in which max boost and max power is required for a sustained amount of time. The heat a turbo creates causes problems to everything under the hood such as wiring, hoses ect... a turbo and a supercharger are totally different applications. a supercharger forces air into the intake with the fuel to make it burn better. a turbocharger works on the exhaust side. a supercharger will make an engine reach higher rpms faster. a turbo will make it pull better

What is better for a V6 challenger a supercharger or a turbocharger?

Just depends on what you want, a superchager will supply torque from low revs all the way to the red line, while a turbo will normally lag on lower revs and then kick in. My turbo only kicks in at 2300 rpm, so the first few seconds there's about no power. A supercharger will also make a nice sound!!

Which is stronger procharged or supercharged?

I think your question is which has more power roots supercharger or a centifugal supercharger. Both are superchargers. A roots type will have the same boost from 1000 rpm and up, the procharger gains boost with rpm so it won't have full boost till over 4000 rpm. both have a purpose. A turbocharger is superior to both. A roots and a procharger both use engine horsepower to turn, a turbocharger uses waste heat and the exhaust velocity to operate. the roots is better for lowend performance, the procharger is best for upper rpm performance. the turbocharger is more complicated but it beats both hands down when setup right with a innercooler.

Is their a supercharger to suit a R31?

actually you can fit a supercharger and turbo charger on any vehicle, but before you this you have to think of certain factors that you want to achieve. 1st do you want a direct response from lower revs or higher revs? 2nd is your engine tough enough to handle a certain amount of boost? When not you must consider of changing internals of the engine but its better to include also in the modification the gearbox and differential. if the best thing to do is to install a turbocharger and supercharger into the R31. supercharger gives you power in the lower revs it responses well when the engine reaches higher revs the turbo kicks in and gives you a better boost. consider also a big intercooler.

Turbocharger vs Supercharger?

what are you asking? the difference between them is that a supercharger works through the intake side of the engine and a turbocharger works on the exhaust no, dude. The supercharger and turbo charger both are forced induction meaning that they both work on the intake. the difference is that the supercharger is belt driven and the turbo charger is gas driven meaning that the supercharger is connected to the belt system of your engine, creating instant power as you accelerate as it is driven off the system it is boosting. the turbo charger works off of your exhaust gas as mentioned earlier and is also affective however it takes a short while for the exhaust gas to turn the turbines thus creating something called turbo lag. if you are asking which is better. anything under 3500 cc and 6 cylinders i would turbo charge, anything above i would supercharge. but you can do either to any engine.

Why does your new mini cooper 2008 have less power than your old 2005 reg?

If you are referring to the "S" models, then it would be because the earlier one had a supercharger while the newer one has a turbocharger. A supercharger is effective even at lower RPM (from a standstill) while a turbo has some lag and needs more RPM to "spool-up" before the real power kicks in.

What are turbochargers and superchargers?

Turbo and superchargers are examples of heat turbines used to compress and pressurize intake air charges for higher power outputs. A turbocharger uses the heat energy from exhaust gases to drive its turbine. In comparison a supercharger uses the mechanical energy of the motor through the drive belt system to run its turbine. A supercharger produces parasitic power and fuel efficiency losses through this set-up. For these reasons a turbocharger has higher efficiency.
