ADSL - Uses typical twisted pair cable that come home. Maximum down stream (download) up to 8 Mbps. Divide the voice and data signals on the telephone line into three frequency bands.
Wi-Max- Can go for over a much greater range. Point-to-multi point: last-mile internet access. People can go up to 52 Mbps down stream (download) . Good solution for the people who can't get ADSL connection due to long distance.
You see Faster connection is WI-MAX. But all the performances are depend on the packagers in the market.
In most cases, ADSL speed is capped (fixed) by the ISP (Internet Service Provider). So the would be no, it does NOT give faster download speed! However, a faster ADSL router CAN improve speed on a local network (i.e. from laptop to desktop, transfers).
WiMAX operates much the same as Wi-Fi only faster and over a greater area. WiMAX towers are located outside and connected directly to a high bandwidth Internet connection.
Even a slow Ethernet network would be faster than ADSL, since 10baseT LAN networks run at 10 Mbps. An ADSL connection typically tops out at around 8 Mbps. However, if you are talking about throughput, then they might be very close, since Ethernet has problems with packet collision. Then again, most Ethernet networks today for LANs run at 100 Mbps, which would place it far faster than ADSL based on speed measurements. However, ADSL does not use the same transmission method as Ethernet, but Ethernet will still be faster than ADSL (especially if you consider the Gigabit speeds).
I believe your Internet Service Provider must sell you this option. Once you pay for it your router should be working at the speed of ADSL. I am currently using ADSL, but will be going to a faster speed.
Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) is a form of DSL, a data communications technology that enables faster data transmission than a conventional modem can provide. A modem which can do such a job is called an ADSL modem.
ADSL
Yes, WiMAX is launched in india. till now its for fixed wimax (802.16d).
It transmits signals faster downstream toward the user than upstream to the server
Speed, mainly. Broadband (cable internet) is going to be much faster than DSL.
ADSL (asymmetrical digital subscriber line) is a protocol that you ISP (internet service provider) use it is a analogue signal. cable normally is a cat 5e or cat 6 in to the modem and is a digital connection (much faster)
ADSL.
