Every state has restrictions on what types of crimes you can have on your record when applying for an insurance license.

Not all felonies however will prevent you from obtaining an insurance license. It just depends on the nature and seriousness of the offense and how strict your state interprets and enforces it. Full disclosure is required.

As a licensed insurer you are also by default a "Fiduciary Agent" for the client. It is expected that you will be entrusted with other peoples money so it is important to your state licensing authority that you can be trusted not to abscond.

Almost any felony involving moral turpitude such as, embezzlement, fraud, forgery, etc.. will prohibit you from obtaining an insurance license in any U.S. state.

Yes, but it depends on the nature of that felony. In most cases you can still buy auto insurance if you have a felony record. It depends greatly on the type of business, nature of the felony, and any applicable laws and ordinances. Generally, being a felon does not prevent you from owning and licensing a business.
