It is celebrated by Jewish people.

Answer 2

Actually The feast of tabernacles its celebrated by anyone who understands our Fathers word and celebrates his feast days as given in Leviticus 23. its not specific or exclusive to Jews or Christians.

It is not celebrated in most Christian church systems, and it is commonly celebrated (although on a different date) by Jews.

In reality it is a feast to be held at the temple of God and officiated by the Priests of the house of Aaron of the tribe of Levi. Many Christian church systems believe these feasts were eliminated by Christ, however Christ never stated that to be the case (Matthew 5:18).

The feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) celebrates the fact that during the 40 years the Hebrews spent in the wilderness after leaving Egypt (about 3,300 years ago) they lived in temporary dwellings and were surrounded by divine clouds-of-glory.

Answer:

Sukkot (Tabernacles) was commanded by God (Leviticus ch.23). It commemorates the protection which God gave us in the wilderness, and it gives thanks for the annual ingathering of grain. It also marks the beginning of mentioning the rainy season in our prayers.

Another answer:

Each annual "feast" commanded by the Lord that His people observe in their appointed times at the two yearly harvest times; the small spring harvest and the abundant fall harvest, is a "prophetic phase" of His plan of Salvation for mankind... and for the restoration of the Kingdom of God on earth that Satan perverted and destroyed in the beginning.

Each "feast" is "Christ-centered" - meaning that He will FULFILL each prophecy in its proper time. The FIRST annual "Holy Day Sabbath" commanded each year is the "PASSOVER"... that pictures and always pointed to "Christ's crucifixion":

"...For even CHRIST OUR PASSOVER is sacrificed for us: therefore LET US KEEP THE FEAST..." (I Cor.5:7-8 KJV).

The "Feast of Tabernacles," the next-to-the-last feast to be observed in the fall of the year at the time of the "abundant fall harvest season," pictures Christ's thousand-year rule over the earth with His saints when He returns. It's a "joyous seven-day celebration" among God's people when they reap the fruits of their labors, praising God for a prosperous harvest and profitable year [the Grace, Mercy and Salvation of God]. It's a reminder of our transient existence in the flesh [living in booths]... and looking forward to our coming "change" [I Cor.15:51-53].

On the heels of the seven-day "FOT" follows the "eighth day" -- the "LAST GREAT DAY" of the Feast -- which pictures "JUDGMENT DAY"... the final phase of God's plan [see the chronology of Christ's thousand year rule revealed in Revelation 20, followed by the Great White Throne Judgment."

The Feast of Tabernacles celebratesthe Hope of God's people, when Christ will once again stand on the earth... AS ITS KING... TO SAVE IT FROM MAN'S DESTRUCTION OF IT.

"...unless that time of calamity is shortened, THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE WILL BE DESTROYED. But it will be shortened for the sake of God's chosen ones." (Matt.24:22 NLT)

Zechariah prophesys of Christ's return as the KING OF THE EARTH... at which time, He COMMANDS ALL THE NATIONS OF THE EARTH TO OBSERVE THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES FOR EACH OF THE THOUSAND YEARS OF HIS RULE:

"...And the Lord WILL BE KING OVER ALL THE EARTH. On that Day there will be One Lord - His name alone will be worshiped..." (Zech.14:9 NLT New Living Translation).

"In the end, the enemies of Jerusalem who survived the plague will go up to Jerusalem EACH YEAR [for a thousand years] TO WORSHIP THE KING, THE LORD ALMIGHTY, and to celebrate the FEAST OF SHELTERS [Feast of Tabernacles]." (verse 16)

This world remains ignorant of the Truth about the "FOT," thinking it to be merely an annual "Jewish festival." But, "in the end"... when Christ the King returns with His Kingdom... ALL NATIONS will keep it, when they witness first-hand the Righteous Justice of their Creator and begin to obey God's laws.

"And if the people of Egypt refuse to attend the Festival, the Lord will punish them with the same plague that He sends on the other nations who refuse to go. Egypt and the other nations will all be punished if THEY DON'T GO TO CELEBRATE THE FESTIVAL." (Zech.14:18-19 NLT)

The Feast of Tabernacles celebratesthe thousand year "Sabbath Rest of God"... when for a thousand years, Satan will be removed from influencing the nations of the world... man's sins will not be allowed to manifest... and the nations will be taught to follow the Righteous Ways of God by Jesus Christ and His saints.

"But in the end, the Holy People of the Most High will be given the Kingdom, and they will rule forever and ever." (Dan.7:18 NLT)

"...all who are victorious, who obey Me to the very end, I will give Authority over ALL THE NATIONS. They will rule the nations with an iron rod and smash them like clay pots." (Rev.2:26-27 NLT)

"...They came to life again, and they REIGNED WITH CHRIST FOR A THOUSAND YEARS. This is the First Resurrection... Blessed and Holy are those who share in the First Resurrection. For them the Second Death holds no power, but they will be Priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him a thousand years." (Rev.20:4-6 NLT)

THAT'S the wonderful Joy and Hope of what the Feast of Tabernacles celebrates.

Answer:

The Feast of Tabernacles isn't a religion. It is one of the annual Holy Day high day Sabbaths of our Creator that pictures one of the phases of His plan for man's salvation and the restoration of His Kingdom to the earth.

Like the other seven annual Sabbath feasts of God... they are all "Christ-centered." The Feast of Tabernacles is a prophetic picture of the "thousand year rule of Christ on the earth."

In the world in this age, however, you would find the Jews observing it... and only a rare few professing Christian believers who understand the prophetic significance of them.

Ironically, the Jews, who reject Christ, keep it in ignorance... and mainstream Christianity rejects it, believing it to be "Jewish."

But, in Truth... the annual Holy Day Sabbaths aren't the Jews' or Christians'. They are listed in The Bible in Leviticus 23. And the Lord God Creator of the Old Testament, Jesus Christ (John 1:3 & 10), says: "...THESE ARE MY FEASTS." (Lev.23:2)

Further prophecy of Jesus' return reveals that the very first edict Jesus Christ, the King of kings, and Lord of lords will decree, is that ALL THE NATIONS OF THE WORLD keep the Feast of Tabernacles each year during His thousand year rule on earth:

"...and the Lord shall be King over all the earth, in that day shall there be One Lord, and His name One... and it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of Hosts, and to KEEP THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES. And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of Hosts, even upon them shall be no rain. And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the Lord will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles." (Zech.14:9 & 16-18)

The "dates" of the Feasts of God are recorded according to God's reckoning of the year... which begins in the "spring" when "life begins anew." Man's year begins in the "dead of winter".... at midnight -- the "witching hour."

The Bible says that the Feast of Tabernacles begins: "...in the FIFTEENTH DAY OF THE SEVENTH MONTH, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a Feast unto the Lord SEVEN DAYS..." (Lev.23:39).

The seven annual Holy Day feasts of God are each "prophetic phases" that reveal His plan of Salvation through the two main annual growing seasons... beginning in the spring of the year during the "early spring harvest" [the 'time of the Firstfruits' of God's elect; those whom He has predestined to rule the Kingdom of God with Christ on earth] with the "Passover" [the sacrifice of Jesus Christ].

The "Feast of Tabernacles" is the next-to-last feast at the end of the year [the end of God's plan]... the time of the "abundant fall harvest". It's a seven-day observance that culminates with "the Eighth Day" [Judgment Day].

"...ye shall keep a Feast unto the Lord SEVEN DAYS: on the first day shall be a Sabbath [a day of rest], and on THE EIGHTH DAY shall be a Sabbath." (Lev.23:39)

This "eighth day" is called the "Last Great Day." It falls directly on the heels of the seven-day Feast of Tabernacles.

The Feast of Tabernacles prophesys and pictures the "Thousand-year Rule of Christ" [the Kingdom of God] on earth, following His return... which ends with "Judgment Day" [the Last Great Day]:

"...and they Lived [the saints of God, upon Christ's return] and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the First Resurrection." (Rev.20:4-5)

"In the Last Day, that GREAT DAY OF THE FEAST [of Tabernacles], Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, LET HIM COME UNTO ME, AND DRINK." (John 7:37)

As the Bible records God's Holy Day Sabbath feasts... men, using the calendar they do today, would be hard-pressed to know when these Feasts of God fall -- except, that they are usually marked on modern calendars as "Jewish" holy days. They aren't, however, "Jewish" feasts as men erroneously label them... but they are:

"...THE FEASTS OF THE LORD." (Lev.23:44)

The Lord's name is "Jesus Christ," the "WORD" -- the Creator God of the Old Testament who "made all things" [John 1:3]. The Lord who made Adam and Eve, called Abraham, recruited Moses and gave him His Sabbaths [both weekly and annual] to record for His people, today. These "Sabbaths of God" are the visible "signs" that "mark" and "identify" who God's people are [see Ex.31:13].

They're each a "Christ-centered" phase of God's plan of Salvation for mankind and for the restoration of the Kingdom of God to the earth. Jesus Christ will fulfill each phase as their time comes to be fulfilled. [the world is still in the time of the Firstfruits; with God still calling His elect who shall rule the Kingdom with Christ at His return.

So... according to the Bible... the Feast of Tabernacles begins each year on "the fifteenth day of the seventh month" of God's calendar.

On the clumsy calendar that man uses today, however, this year [2013]... the Feast of Tabernacles falls on September 19th thru the 25th; with the 26th being the eighth and "Last Great Day" of the Feast.

The Feast of Tabernacles (15th-21st of 7th month) for some in Christianity represents the Millennial Rule of Jesus Christ (1,000 years) and the now Spirit-born 'children of God on Earth.' It is during this period that salvation will be offered to all of mankind (see Revelation 20:4).

On Sukkot, Jews eat all their meals in outdoor arbor-canopied booths (Sukkah) in order to commemorate the Israelites' wanderings in the desert (Leviticus ch.23). Some will also sleep in the Sukkah. During the morning prayers on these days, we take the 4 minim consisting of a Lulav (young palm branch), an Etrog (Citrus Medica; citron), three Haddassim (Myrtle branches) and two Aravot(willow branches).

Not only the Jewish faith but some evangelical Christians as it represents the future 1,000 year rule of Christ with the spirit-born children of God on Earth when salvation will be offered to all (see Leviticus 23:34-35; 39-42, Zechariah 14:16-19, Isaiah 2:1-4 and Revelation 20:4).

In what ways does Jesus fulfill the symbolism underlying the the Feast of Tabernacles?

Answer:The Feast of Tabernacles hasn't been fulfilled yet. It pictures the thousand year rule of Christ on the earth. But, when it is fulfilled... Jesus will be King of kings and Lord of lords on the earth."...and the Lord shall be King over all the earth: in that day there will be one Lord, and His name One... and it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of Hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles." Do the Mormons celebrate the feast of tabernacles?

Most don't. We believe that the annual feasts were in effect until the time that Jesus died on the Christ. These feasts were "types" or symbols, and Christ is the real thing. (Colossians 2:13-17.) We believe we will celebrate the "real" Feast of Tabernacles with Jesus when He comes again to take us home with Him.
