Email was invented by Ray Tomlinson in 1971. It was improved in 1972 to include multiple users. On a related note, the world's first integrated email system was invented by Dr.V A. Shiva Ayyadurai aka Dr. E-Mail from MIT. He designed the first email system in 1980.

In the early 1971, Ray Tomlinson was working on a small teamdeveloping the TENEX operating system, with local email programscalled SNDMSG and READMAIL. In late 1971, Tomlinson… developed thefirst ARPANET email application when he updated SNDMSG by adding aprogram called CPYNET capable of copying files over the network, and informed his colleagues by sending them an email using the newprogram with instructions on how to use it.
Answer The original Internet was created as a means for US institutions and other research facilities to share their research data more rapidly than could be don…e through postal mail or phone conversations. This network had a very low bandwidth capability, a fraction of what is available today. At that time, it's only capabilities were the passage of text messages(the original email), and transferring small files.

It might take days to send a letter. That is why Ray Tomlinson invented the e-mail on the internet. E-mail is short for electronic mail. E-mails are used for sending and recei…ving mail online. Lots of people use it because it is fast and easy.
the first email began with Ray Tomlinson in 1971. it was part of a communications network begun by the US government known as "ARPANET". This turned out to be the Internet in …its infancy.
Email was invented by VA Shiva Ayyadurai. Ayyadurai, who was only 14 at the time of his achievement, was born in 1963 in Mumbai, India.
Emali was invent by Ray Tomlinson in 1971.
Ray Tomlinson in 1972. He wrote 2 program called SNDMAIL and READMAIL that sent messages accross the Arpanet, the first long distance switched packet network, forerunner… of the internet. Jon Postel and J. K. Reynolds published documents defining the more modern e-mail system we use today (RFC821 and RFC918) defining the SMTP (sending) and POP (receiving) protocols respectively. Note that, although they published the documents they didn't exactly invent the protocols, that was a wider group of people.
They invented email so that people could communicate more quickly than by mail or travel. This was immensely important for delivering time-sensitive information.

I think it was invented to tell people stuff, like it's used for now.
The earliest email systems were run on multiuser time-sharing mainframes; messages could be sent between users of the same mainframe. The earliest may well have been run at MI…T in 1965 on the CTSS time-sharing system.
