The Hybrid has been one of the suitable mode of transportation in these times of environmental and economic concerns. The Hybrid vehicle has been in devlopment since years and is surprising to know the fact that it was even in development even before the 20th century.

The first research and development came in the year 1665, when a Jesuit preist and Astronomer named Ferdinand Verbiest designed a 4 wheeled self moving vehicle powered by steam. He is known to have worked on it till 1680, but after that there have been no reports as to it was completed. After that, the first known working vehicle powered by steam is said to have invented by a Frenchman named Nicholas Cugnot in 1769. The vehicle he invented was capable of traveling at 6 miles per hour, the downside to Cugnot's creation was that it could not produce sufficient steam to move any faster, as well as being unable to carry adequate amount of fuel to travel farther.
