Alexander "Alex" Rider (born February 13, 1987) is a fictional character. He is the protagonist and title character of the popular Alex Rider series of novels by British author Anthony Horowitz. He is also the protagonist of two story stories written by Horowitz based in the same canon as the series, Secret Weapon and Christmas at Gunpoint. Alex is a young agent for MI6, the British international intelligence service. At no more than fourteen years of age, Alex was forced into this occupation after MI6 noticed Alex's many talents. He has not only worked for MI6 but also the CIA, Scorpia and, in Snakehead, the Australian Secret Intelligence Service. He was played in the film Stormbreaker, based on the novel of the same name, by Alex Pettyfer.
The Alex Rider books, written by Anthony Horowitz, are really good, and have made Anthony Horowitz my favourite author. Following the death of his uncle, Ian, Alex Rider, 14, is forced to work for MI6 in a number of different missions, including having to protect all British children from a lethal virus, infiltrating a French boarding school, stopping a Russian madman setting off a nuclear bomb, and tons of other things. On 1 April 2011, there are 9 books, Stormbreaker, Point Blanc, Skeleton Key, Eagle Strike, Scorpia, Ark Angel, Snakehead, Crocodile Tears and Scorpia Rising. I recommend all Anthony Horowitz books to anyone between 8 and 15 years old.

The series is aimed primarily for teenagers.Seven novels have been published to date, as well as three graphic novels, two short stories and a supplementary book. The first novel, Stormbreaker, was first released in the United Kingdom in 2000 and was adapted into a motion picture in 2006. A line of Action Figures based on the film actors have also been released, featuring two different Alex Rider figures, Darrius Sayle, and Yassen Gregorovich.[1] A video game was released in 2006, based on the film. The novels are published by Walker Books in the United Kingdom. They were first published by Puffin in the United States, but have also been published more recently by Philomel, also an imprint of Penguin Books.[2] The graphic novels are published by Walker in the United Kingdom, and by Philomel in the United States.
Alex Rider is described in the latter books as 5 foot 4. Throughout all the books he has been described as a 14 year old boy with close-cropped fair hair and a build of an older man and brown eyes that are far too serious for a normal 14 year old.
