The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church) is a Restorationist Christian denomination headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Church has nearly 14 million members worldwide.

While many of the Church's doctrines are similar to those of mainstream Christianity, there are also some unique differences. For example, while members of the Church believe that Jesus Christ is their personal Savior, they do not believe in the Trinity, instead they hold that God the Father and Jesus Christ are two separate beings united in purpose. They believe that the Bible is the Word of God, in addition to the Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. They also believe in and follow a living prophet. Church members are often known for their dedication to living their religion by living clean lives, eating healthy, being chaste and modest, and their dedication to service, families, and traditional moral values.

Church members are usually friendly and always excited to share their beliefs and answer the questions of others. If you want to learn more about the Church or it's members, their official website is a great resource. It is listed at the "Related Link" below. You could also speak to any Mormon you might happen to know, or stop by and visit a Sunday worship service.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) teaches that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior and Redeemer of all mankind. Jesus Christ is the only way and means whereby men may receive salvation.

He was the Jehovah of the Old Testament and the Messiah of the New Testament. His mortal ministry as recorded in the New Testament serves as an example of how we should strive to live and was marked by his Atonement and Crucifixion, which enable us to be forgiven of our sins. He overcame the bonds of death and was Resurrected on the third day. After his resurrection, he appeared to and taught those living on the American Continent similar lessons to those he taught in the Old World. This visit is recorded in the Book of Mormon.

Jesus Christ is considered the head of the Church, members believe He leads the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints directly and through revelation to both prophets and individuals.

Mormons teach that Jesus Christ was the son of Mary, and literal son of God, that he was a descendant of David, and the promised Messiah. In all this, Mormon doctrine is effectively the same as most of the rest of Christianity.

As far as the identity of Christ, there is only a single point of difference between Mormon (AKA LDS) teachings, and those of other Christian churches. This difference is the Trinity, or the believe that the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are separate manifestations of the same single entity. Where most Christian churches have inherited the doctrine of the trinity from their Catholic roots, the LDS church on the other hand, does not share this root, or doctrine.

Mormons believe that the Father and Son are distinctly separate individuals (I.E. two unique entities, rather than separate expressions of a single entity.) Christ's statement that "I and my father are one" is seen as somewhat abstract (I.E. "one" is meant in the same sense as the command to "be ye one body and one spirit", or "a man shall...cleave unto his wife and they twain shall be one flesh".)

Sometimes people try to claim that because of this difference Mormons aren't Christians, or that they worship a "different" Jesus, but that is silly. Mormons worship the Hope of Israel, the promised Messiah, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. There's only been one of those, and squabbling about details of attributes doesn't make him a different person.

Jesus is everything to a Mormon. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) believe Jesus Christ is the literal and only begotten Son of God. He came to earth as a mortal man to show us how to live and to suffer and die for the sins of mankind, just as The Bible says. He was resurrected and overcame the bonds of death. They also believe that after His ascension, He visited the people in the Americas, as recorded in the Book of Mormon.

Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the founder, leader, and head of their church. They believe that Jesus Christ came to earth several times to give His doctrine and authority to the prophet Joseph Smith. They believe that He continues to reveal His will and doctrine to the Church through a living prophet, just as He did in ancient times.

Mormons believe that Jesus Christ was chosen before the creation of the earth to be the Savior and Redeemer of mankind. God knew that no man could live a perfect sinless life, and so provided Jesus, who was perfect, to be our sacrificial lamb. Those who accept His sacrifice will be cleansed from all sin and recieve salvation. Jesus Christ is the means by which we come to God the Father, both in prayer and in death. Since Mormons believe that the purpose of life is to come to God, they rely on the grace, power, and teachings of Jesus Christ to fulfill this purpose.

This is just scratching the surface as far as what Mormons believe about Jesus. Check out the "Related Links" below to learn more about who Jesus is to Mormons.

To members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church), Jesus Christ is their Savior and Redeemer.

Jesus is the Only Begotten Son of God, chosen before the world was to be the Savior of men. He created the earth under the direction of God. He was born of the Virgin Mary, He lived an exemplary life, He founded a church, ordained Apostles, and taught His disciples. He suffered in the garden and died on the cross on behalf of our sins. He rose the third day. As a resurrected being, he taught his disciples, then ascended to heaven. He then appeared to His people living on the American continent. Jesus Christ has promised He will return again to gather His people and reign over the earth for a thousand years. He will then be the final judge of all men, granting eternal life in heaven to those who followed Him and accepted His sacrifice in their behalf.

Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the founder of their Church. They believe that His Church as described in the New Testament fell away from the truth, and that Jesus appeared personally to Joseph Smith, giving him the authority and truth that had been lost. Mormons look to Jesus Christ as their leader, teacher, and example as well as their Savior, brother, and friend.

Why is it named church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints?

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly known as the "Mormon" church) believe that it was given that name by Jesus Christ in revelation to Joseph Smith. This revelation is now contained in the Doctrine & Covenants section 115. It says "For thus shall my church be called in the last days, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." This revelation was given in 1838. For the eight years prior to this that the church was in existence, it had been known as "The Church of Christ." The official name of the Church is very important to most of it's members. The name means that this is the Church of Jesus Christ - it is a Christian Church operated directly by Jesus Christ and founded on His teachings and commandments. It also means that it's members should be living as "Latter-day Saints" or, as literal Saints who are living in the Last Days.
