A queen is a female monarch who reigns over a kingdom, or monarchy, with the king, her husband. These days, kings and queens dont have as much power as they used to have, due to the fact that most countries have presidents.

I believe you are referring to the title by which a queen is referred to or addressed. This is called the style of the sovereign.

This actually varies by country, through time and according to the occasion.

For the Queen of England, for example, her common title is: Her Most Gracious Majesty. This is changed to The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in acts of parliament. On British passports, she is referred to as Her Britannic Majesty. Her full style is:

"Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith."

The title 'Majesty' was introduced during the reign of Henry VIII, who was (in some respects) competitive with the monarchs of France, who used the title. Until this time, the title 'Highness' was used from the 12th century. Before the Norman conquest, the Anglo-Saxon kings used the title 'King of the English' or similar.

When speaking to the Queen in less-formal occasions, she is often address simply as Ma'am.

A queen is a female while a king is a male. Other than that, the definition is the same for both: a singular ruler who comes to power generally through blood rights and inheritance.
