William Gibbs Mcadoo was a late-nineteenth century and early 20th statesman and businessman. He was originally a Lawyer. Mcadoo is the namesake of an avenue in Jersey City. he was the founder of the Hudson and Manhattan RR, now known as the Path, and was also the director-general of the wartime U.S.R.A> US Railway adminstration which while a government agency, was NOT part of the Corps of Engineers(which is part of the Army). The USRA ran at a loss and was dissolved after about l9l9 whenmt he Roads were returned to their own management. the mistake WA s Not repeated in World War II. Mcadoo was also secretary of the Treasury under Wilson and thus his signature got on paper money, a versatile politician.
