Best Answer

A polymath (From the Greek, "having learned much") is a person with wide ranging knowledge in many fields. This is similar to the term "Renaissance man" . The term is not limited to the knowledge of mathematics, although mathematics can be included in the polymath's skills.

Italian polymaths include Leonardo da vinci and Leon Battista Alberti (who invented the term)
